Donald L. Ten Haken, 89, of 1231 Eisner Ave., went home to be with his Lord on Sunday morning, March 7, 2010.
Don was born May 11, 1920 in the Town of Lyndon, Sheboygan County, to Elmer and Lola (Bruggink) Ten Haken.
Following graduation from Cedar Grove High School, Class of 1938, Don furthered his education at Central College in Pella, Iowa receiving his BA Degree in Business Administration.
Don served his country in the U.S. Army Air Corps, stationed in Texas and the South Pacific with the Medical Administrative Corp.
On April 10, 1943 Don was united in marriage to Muriel J. Veldboom of Cedar Grove. The couple resided in the 2800 block of S. 12th St. for many years, before moving to Terrace Estates in 2007.
Don was a sales representative for the Polar Ware Co. until his retirement in 1982.
Mr. Ten Haken was a member of Hope Reformed Church where he served as Elder and Deacon. He enjoyed singing with the church choir and supporting families at funerals as a soloist.
Don enjoyed riding his bicycle and took special pride in caring for his automobiles.
In addition to his wife, Muriel, Don is survived by a daughter, Sherry (Kenneth) Huibregtse of Oconto Falls, WI; two grandchildren, Nicole (Peter) Martens and their children, Naomi, Anna and Isaac; Amy (John) Wolford and their children, Makaya and Jacob; a brother, Irwin (Jane) Ten Haken of Portage, WI; and other relatives and friends.
Don was preceded in death by a brother, Ellsworth and two sisters, Marion Makela and Joanne Jarvis.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, 6:00 P.M. at Hope Reformed Church. Rev. Bill Te Winkel, Pastor, will officiate. Burial will take place in Cedar Grove Cemetery. A time of visitation and support will be held at the church, 1014 N. 6th St., on Thursday from 4:00 P.M. until the time of service.
A memorial fund has been established in his name for Hope Reformed Church.
