Biography
Virginia “Ginny” Kautzer, age 79, of 1718 Autumnwood Ct., Sheboygan, passed away peacefully at Sunny Ridge Health and Rehabilitation Center on Wednesday morning, July 21, 2010 where she had resided for the past 3 ˝ months after an enduring, lengthy illness.
Ginny was born July 28, 1930 in Sheboygan to Henry A. and Edna (Grupe) Schaub. She graduated from Holy Name Catholic Grade School and was a graduate of Sheboygan North High School, Class of 1948. After graduation she enrolled at Milwaukee School of Cosmetology and attained her license as a beautician. Her main employment was with Northgate Beauty Salon. She was also employed with the Sheboygan Area School District and involved with the food service program at Washington Elementary School for ten years. In addition, she volunteered at the St. Nicholas Hospital gift shop.
On January 26, 1952, Ginny was united in marriage to Burnell “Bernie” Kautzer at St. Dominic Catholic Church Parsonage in Sheboygan.
She was a devoted mother to her four children and loved to be with her grandchildren at all of the many family gatherings. She and Bernie enjoyed many glorious Caribbean Island vacations and cruises in their early marriage.
Ginny was a lifetime member of Holy Name of Jesus Catholic Parish and St. Anne’s Women’s Society.
In addition to her husband of fifty-eight years, Bernie, she is survived by two sons, Gary Kautzer of Wauwatosa and James (Karen) Kautzer of Sheboygan; two daughters, Gail (Jerry) Basler of Columbus, WI and Julie (Derrick) Walker of Sheboygan; eleven grandchildren, Austin, Dana, and Regina Kautzer of Wauwatosa, Andrew (Kay) Basler of Wausau, WI, Travis Basler of Madison, WI, Claire (Scot) Pennell of Oshkosh, WI, Stephanie (Nate) West of LaCrosse, WI, Laura (friend, Andy Nighbor) Kautzer of Madison, WI, Nathan Kautzer of Sheboygan, Marshall and Paige Walker of Sheboygan; three great-grandchildren, Elizabeth and Danielle West and Logan Basler; one brother, Henry Schaub of Sheboygan Falls; and one sister-in-law, Shirley Hasenstein of Sheboygan. Her beloved cockapoo, Buffie, will miss her dearly.
In addition to her parents, Ginny was preceded in death by a brother-in-law, Raymond Hasenstein and a sister-in-law, Lucia Schaub.
A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at 2:00 p.m. Friday, July 23, 2010 at Holy Name of Jesus Catholic Church by Reverend Daniel J. Lasecki, Senior Priest. A time of visitation and support will be held from 1:00 p.m. until the time of service. Entombment will follow at Calvary Cemetery.
A memorial fund has been established in her name.
