Carita Merget

Carita L. Merget, passed away peacefully at the age of 99, on Tuesday, September 6, 2022, at Sheboygan Progressive Health Services.

She was born in Sheboygan on January 24, 1923, to the late Edward and Irene (Judies) Karbe.  On October 3, 1942, Carita was married to her sweetheart, Arvon Merget, in Dubuque, Iowa.  He preceded her in death on October 12, 1979.  Along with being employed at Larson’s Plywood, Carita was a natural caregiver.  She loved her family dearly and was always there for them.  She served those she loved and enjoyed being a provider to them.  Some of her passions were cooking, baking, gardening, sewing, and putting puzzles together.  She took pride in her home and would spend the summer months outside tending to her yard and garden. She loved to share a meal, a drink, and a laugh.  Carita also loved animals, having many dogs over the years, including Mulder, who held a special place in her heart.

Carita is survived by her grandchildren, Michelle Adams, of Green Bay, Jerry Lee Sperhake (Ashley), of Green Bay, Billie Sperhake (Jevon), of Sheboygan; great-grandchildren, Kayden, Quintin, Daisha, Ariana and Finnley; special friends, Janet and Floyd Wenninger, Mary Lynn Gustavsen, Susie Adleman and Mary Ann Wilke; nieces, nephews, other family and friends.

Along with her parents and husband, Carita was preceded in death by her son Arvon Merget Jr. and brothers, Charles, Donald and Edward and sisters, Ethel and Irene.

A Memorial Service for Carita will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, September 17, 2022, at Ballhorn Chapels Funeral and Cremation Care Center, 1201 N 8th St. in Sheboygan with Deacon Michael Burch officiating.  Family will greet visitors at the funeral home on Saturday from 9:00 AM until the time of the service.  Carita will be laid to rest at Wildwood Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in Carita’s name.
