Arlynn June Nauschultz, age 98, of Sheboygan passed away peacefully on Monday, September 14, 2026, at Lakehouse Sheboygan where she had been living for the past year. She was born in Sheboygan on June 12, 1928, to the late Raymond and Lauretta (Leimetz) Schmidt. The family lived on North 40th Street, in the home where Arlynn's father grew up. The house was across the "crick" from the family business, Crystal Springs Bottling Works, which later became affectionately known as "the pop shop".
Arlynn attended Mapledale School, a one-room schoolhouse down the road on 40th Street, and Trinity Lutheran School. She graduated from Central High School in 1946 where she was nicknamed "Blondie" and enjoyed singing in the choir and serving as a hostess for the formal dance. After graduation, she worked as a dental assistant and attended UW-Sheboygan Extension where she met her future husband. She was united in marriage with Frank Nauschultz on April 30, 1950, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Sheboygan. It rained that day--a harbinger of their future good fortune and happiness. Together, they raised five children; even in the midst of their busy lives Arlynn always managed to make a beautiful and comfortable home for anyone who entered.
Arlynn had many hobbies over the years, from baking and bowling, to sewing and singing. She was a dedicated member of St. Mark Lutheran Church for many years where she sang in the choir, played in the handbell choir, and served as a deacon. Arlynn was an avid reader and crossword puzzler; she and Frank reigned at Scrabble. She loved bridge and birds and gardens, and had a knack for turning a meager few bloom into works of art. Needlepoint became her thing too; she created lovely pillows, wallpieces and more, over the years. Arlynn enjoyed watching football, tennis and golf--a "Packer Backer"until the end.
After Frank's retirement from C. Reiss Coal Co., they enjoyed exploring and living in new places including Elkhart Lake, Door County, Kohler, North Carolina, Florida, Madison and Appleton. In recent years, she still pined for the balmy air, beach and sunshine of the Florida life she loved as a younger woman.
Undoubtedly, most important to her was an undying faith in God, and in Christian thought and teachings. She studied Christian scripture daily; her faith drove her life. Patience, loving kindness and concern for others was her foundation. Her belief in the promises she heard from her Christ steadied and upheld her, provided strength to maintain an amazing sense of humor and graciousness with her family and caregivers, even as she was nearing the end of her life. Arlynn will be remembered by her radiant smile, her kind shining eyes, and her ability to make us laugh and take in all the beauty. She was all class and poise, even-tempered by conservative reserve--a delightful person.
Arlynn is survived by her children, Vicki Nauschultz, St. Paul, MN; Susan Nauschultz, Minneapolis, MN; Jane Nauschultz (Chris Kuehnel), Sheboygan; Nancy (Michael) Fischer, Eden Prairie, MN; and Thomas (Tammy) Nauschultz, Sheboygan; grandchildren Benjamin Dimock, Elena Schuh, Alexander Fischer, Katherine Fischer, Zakkaryah Nauschultz and Kyle Nauschultz; great-grandchildren, Adrian, Evelyn and Candace; brother-in-law, Glenn Groth, sister-in-law Judy (Jerry) Konik, and many nieces and nephews. Along with her parents and husband, Arlynn was preceded in death by her siblings, Roger Schmidt and Marian Seno, brother-in-law, Vernon Nash, sister-in-law, Pat Nash, sister-in-law Nancy Groth, and son-in-laws Peter Dimock and Frank Snowden.
A memorial service for Arlynn will be held at Ballhorn Chapels in Sheboygan on Saturday, October 24, at 11:30AM, officiated by Rev. Judine Duerwaechter. The family will greet visitors at 10:30AM until the time of service.
Memorial contributions may be made in her name to Fresh Meals On Wheels, Sheboygan County, or Sharon Richardson Hospice.
Arlynn's family would like to thank the Aurora Hospice team for their compassionate care; and most especially, those kind, dedicated, hard-working staff at Lakehouse Sheboygan. Many thanks, also, to Ballhorn Chapels for their excellent services and assistance.
