Obituary

Dylan Mason Shaw, age 18, loved and cherished by many, passed away peacefully in his sleep on August 19, 2026.

Dylan was born on January 4, 2008 in Sheboygan, WI and was the beloved son of Amberly Theis and Todd J Shaw.

Dylan spent his life defying the odds and continuously keeping his medical team on their toes. His never-give-up spirit and sneaky Dyl Pickle, Dilly Bean personality brought so much joy to those who loved him and will be missed beyond words. To know Dylan was to know a love that was pure, powerful, and impossible to forget. He was love and life bundled into one perfect package.

Though Dylan faced immense medical challenges and was never able to express his thoughts through words, his life spoke volumes. His wide, joy-filled smile could light up an entire room, sharing a warmth and happiness that needed no words at all. Among his many hard-earned accomplishments, graduating from high school was an especially proud milestone.

Dylan was always a sucker for a good time, never wanting to miss the party and made sure his presence was known through every giggle, groan, side eyed-mischievous look, and unforgettable smile. He loved deeply, made the world brighter, and gave everyone around him a beautiful reason to smile.

Dylan is survived by his loving parents, Amberly and Todd, and his devoted bonus parents, Ryan Leftwich and Jessica Koopman; his favorite sister, Lily; his maternal grandmother, Kimberly Burch; maternal grandfather, Shawn Theis (Mamie); maternal great-grandmother, Reva Burch; paternal grandmother, Julia Coffey (Dan Olson); paternal grandfather, Todd Shaw (Lisa); and paternal great-grandmother, Barb Gorr (Gary).

He is also lovingly remembered by his uncles, Billy Burch (Cassandra) and Joey Theis; his aunt, Samantha Hawkinson (Troy); and his cousins Ariyanna, Kaylynn, Jack, Archie, Finn, and Louie. Dylan also leaves behind his chosen aunt, Heather Rolkosky (Rick), and his chosen cousins, Emma, Olivia, Avaya, and Rhett.

There is comfort in knowing that Dylan is now at peace - free from every challenge and surrounded by the same boundless love he gave so freely throughout his life.

We would also like to extend our deepest gratitude to the countless doctors, nurses, therapists, teachers, and caregivers who helped make Dylan’s life as full, joyful, and beautiful as possible. Thank you for seeing beyond his medical challenges, celebrating every victory, and loving the incredible boy behind his unforgettable smile. Your compassion, dedication, and care meant more to Dylan and our family than words could ever express.

A Celebration of Dylan’s life will take place on Saturday, August 29, 2026, from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m. at King Park Pavilion, 1615 S. 7th St., in Sheboygan. In lieu of flowers, the family plans to establish a memorial fund in Dylan’s honor to benefit children facing medical challenges. Additional details will be shared at a later date.
