Marv was born on Eisner Avenue in Sheboygan on December 5, 1933, to the late Martin and Katie (DenBoer) Dekker. He was the youngest of five children. Marv was raised and lived all of his adult life in Sheboygan. He loved to sing, which is where he met his wife, Ruth Dykman in the radio choir. They were married on December 27, 1958. He worked at Kohler Company and supported his family, starting at age 18 and retiring in his 50’s.

He loved sports, specifically the Wisconsin teams. He played basketball in the city of Sheboygan in his younger years, as well as traveling and playing with various softball and baseball teams.

He loved the Lord. His dedication to church and Christian schools was shown through his work at both institutions, as well as his work with Pine Haven Christian Communities.
