Obituary

Peggy L. Uphoff, 70, of Sheboygan, Wisconsin, passed away on June 28, 2026. Born on October 5, 1955, to Raymond and June Uphoff, Peggy lived a life marked by compassion, creativity, and a deep devotion to others—especially her family, friends, and students.

Peggy dedicated much of her professional life to education. She earned her Master’s degree in Special Education and went on to serve as a beloved special education teacher at Urban Middle School in Sheboygan, Wisconsin, where she spent many meaningful years shaping young lives. She was also actively involved with Big Brothers Big Sisters through her work at Urban Middle School, extending her care and mentorship beyond the classroom.

Peggy embraced life with curiosity and joy. Her love of travel began as a high school exchange student in Esslingen Germany as part of the People to People organization. She made many good friends while exploring her German heritage. Her passion for travel remained throughout her life, and she returned to Europe many times to visit new places. A creative soul, she spent countless hours painting and making handmade cards and jewelry, often sharing them as thoughtful gifts. Her artistry and attention to detail were reflected in everything she created.

She found happiness in simple pleasures and community connections—spending time at the senior center, Uptown Social, participating in yoga classes, and enjoying lively games of bingo. She also enjoyed cooking, baking, dining at local restaurants, and occasionally testing her luck at casinos. Coffee and chocolate were her favorite indulgences.

Peggy was known for her warm hospitality and loved entertaining her close circle of friends. She treasured those relationships deeply and brought people together with ease and kindness. She also took great joy in spoiling her brother and her nieces and nephews, always finding ways to show her love and support.

She is survived by her brother, Timothy (Farrah) Uphoff and their children Elise and Matthew; half-sisters Claire Ann Corbett and Lynne Cason; niece Jennifer (Jeremy) Simons and their children Christian, Mallory and Jonathan; nephews Christopher (Wendy) Uphoff, Ben (Audra) Eggum and their children Elia and Reed, and Brad (Jayme) Eggum and their daughter Hannah.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Raymond and June Uphoff, and her brother, Steven Uphoff.

Visitation for Peggy will be held on Thursday, July 30, 2026, from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. at Ballhorn Chapels, 1201 N. 8th St., Sheboygan. A funeral service celebrating Peggy's life will immediately follow at 3:00 p.m. Private burial will take place at Wildwood Cemetery in Sheboygan.

In honor of Peggy’s life and her lifelong dedication to helping others, memorial donations may be made to Uptown Social or Big Brothers Big Sisters.

Peggy’s legacy lives on in the students she inspired, the friends she cherished, and the family who loved her dearly.
