Sophia Thun, age 97, of Sheboygan passed away on Sunday, October 25, 2026, at the Shores of Sheboygan Senior Living.

She was born in Sheboygan on March 12, 1929, to the late Herman and Cora (Doelder) Munnik. She attended Sheboygan schools. In 1947, Sophia was united in marriage to Robert W. Thun at St. Johns U.C.C., where she was a current member. He preceded her in death on August 12, 1993. Sophia was employed at Miesfeld’s for over 35 years, retiring in 2007.

Sophia enjoyed dining out, shopping and dancing.

She is survived by her children, Susan Fair, David (Irene) Thun, Michael (Judy) Thun and Mark Thun; 7 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other family and friends.

Along with her parents and husband, Sophia was preceded in death by 5 brothers and 2 sisters.

A private family burial for Sophia will take place.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in Sophia’s name.
