Green Bay

Patricia E. Lubbers, age 91, died peacefully in her sleep March 12, 2022, at Alpha Senior Concepts in Green Bay where she had been a resident for the last 2 years.  Daughter of the late August and Ida (Richter) Grube, Patricia was born in Sheboygan on September 24, 1930.

Graduating from North High School in 1949 Patricia was elected to the National Honor Society her senior year.  After high school she worked at the Sheboygan Clinic leaving there to raise her family.  When her youngest child entered grade school Patricia went back to work at the West Bend Company and later the Vollrath Company until retirement.  She enjoyed a long and active retirement filled with travel, golfing, bowling, camping, family and friends.

On May 16th, 1953, Patricia was united in marriage to John Lubbers at Wesley Methodist Church.  They enjoyed 62 years of marriage until John’s passing on March 10, 2015.  Together they resided in Sheboygan, then Mauston, Waupaca, West Bend and again in Sheboygan raising their four children along the way.

Patricia was a member of St. Luke United Methodist Church serving faithfully for many years.  She golfed in the Friday Night Ladies Golf League at Sheboygan Town and Country Club and in the winter bowled in Ladies Friday Night League at the Sheboygan Elks Lodge 299 where her husband John was an Elks Life Member.

Patricia was devoted to her husband, children and grandchildren. She was an exceptional home cook and baker. She loved to bake bread, cookies, cakes and pies. Christmas, family birthdays and other holidays featured her culinary skills and were greatly enjoyed by family.

“Patty” and John played cribbage with each other daily and with their friends.  She also enjoyed playing bridge and sheepshead.  Viewing songbirds at her birdfeeder was a favorite pastime.  She filled her bird book with the dates and notes from seeing new birds.

Survivors include daughters, Jane (Frank) Michalski and Julie Lubbers; son John (Cynthia) Lubbers; grandsons, Jordan and Garrett (Madalyn) Lubbers, Matt and Ray Michalski; siblings, Penny (Jack) Schaap and Renee Binder.

Along with her parents and husband John, Patricia was preceded in death by her brother Duwane; sister Sharon and most recently by her daughter Dr. Anne Lubbers.

A Memorial Service for both Patricia and her daughter, Anne, will be held on Saturday, April 16, 2022, at Ballhorn Chapels Funeral and Cremation Care Center, 1201 N 8th St. in Sheboygan with Pastor Cindy Thompson officiating.  The family will greet visitors at the funeral home on Saturday from 9:30 a.m.  until the time of the service at 11:00 a.m. For those who would like to attend virtually they can do so on Patricia’s obituary page on the funeral home website.  Patricia will be laid to rest next to John at the Garden of Peace Mausoleum.
