Ruby Schomberg, 90, of Town Herman, passed away Friday, December 14, 2012, at home. Ruby was born February 6, 1922, to the late Oscar and Anna (Werthman) Heusterberg. She attended grade school at Millersville, graduating from the eighth grade in 1935. She attended Howards Grove High School, graduating in 1939. On June 14, 1941, she married Roland Schomberg at Trinity Lutheran Church in Howards Grove. He preceded her in death on June 11, 2002. They resided in the Town of Herman, purchasing the Heusterberg family homestead and operating a dairy farm there for fourteen years. Both she and her husband were active in 4-H, serving as project leaders for many years. Her hobbies included crafts, sewing, gardening and travel. She was a volunteer at various local organizations. She and her husband were members of St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church. Ruby was past president and secretary of the St. Paul's Ladies Aid, a member of the church's Visitation Committee, a member of the Sheboygan County Historical Society and its Service Committee. Survivors include two sons, Jerome (Barbara) Schomberg, Oostburg, Lee (Ann) Schomberg, Grand Rapids, MI; four grandchildren, Matthew (Cindy), Christopher (Carolyn), Jonathan (special friend, Katie Karabon) and Andrew Schomberg; one great grandchild, Whitley; three sisters, Verna (Roland) Groene, Adela Damrow and Evelyn Sprenger; two sisters-in-law, Virginia Schomberg and Esther Heusterberg In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by one son, Ronald, one brother, Frederick Heusterberg and two brothers-in-law, Adrian Damrow and Lester Sprenger. A funeral service for Ruby will be held on Tuesday, December 18, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church (441 Millersville Avenue, Howards Grove) with the Rev. Tom Unke officiating. Friends may call on Tuesday, at the church, from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the service. Burial will be in the St. Paul's Cemetery. A memorial fund has been established for St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church and the Sheboygan County Historical Society.
