Alma J. Gerbing passed away at Sheboygan Senior Community on December 2, 2022. She was born on November 28, 1923, in Sheboygan to the late Frank and Jennie Gruden. Alma graduated from Sheboygan Central High School in 1942. On March 16, 1946, she was united in marriage to Harold Gerbing. He preceded her in death on November 2008. They enjoyed spending their vacations in Door County.
Alma was a member of First United Lutheran Church, belonging to the Morning Glories Bible Class, V.I.L. Seniors Group and Martha Circle. She was also a member of the Sheboygan Women’s Club for 50 years. She completed business courses at LTI and studied music and voice with Elsa Bauer at Mission House, now know as Lakeland University. She was an active member of Community Players and sang in many musicals. Alma completed a full course at the Wilton School of Cake Decorating and also attended the Antoinette Pope School of Culinary Arts, both in Chicago. Baking cookies, reading and sharing her books with friends was a favorite pastime of Alma’s.
She is survived by her daughter Melody Kuether; grandchildren, Andrea (Josh) Harmelink, Erika (Matt) Dahlem; great-grandchildren, Kendall and Jackson Harmelink and Luke and William Dahlem; and Keith Kuether.
Alma was preceded in death by her parents, husband, a brother Henry Gruden and a granddaughter Jessica Kuether.
Following Alma’s wishes, cremation has taken place and a private family service will be held.
In lieu of flowers, Alma requested that memorials be sent to First United Lutheran Church for the Boys and Girls School Lunch Program.
