Arthur Buteyn

Arthur Buteyn, age 85, of Sheboygan, went home to be with the Lord on Friday morning, November 3, 2017 at Morningside Health Care.
He was born July 23, 1932 in Sheboygan to Martin and Marie J. (Van Stelle) Buteyn. He attended local schools including Pigeon River, Sheboygan Christian, and was a graduate of Sheboygan North High School. From 1953 -1955 Art served his country in the US Army, stationed in Germany and the United States.
On June 15, 1956 Art and Doris Marie Van De Wege were united in marriage.
Art was self-employed as a carpenter and overhead door installer and retired from Joseph Schmidt & Sons.
He was a member of First Christian Reformed Church (currently Christ Community Church) where he served as Deacon and Elder several times and was a long time member of the building and grounds committee. He sang with the church choir for many years and was a member of the Men of Harmony and King's Choraliers. His hobbies included fishing, bowling, and golfing.
In addition to his wife, Doris, he is survived by his children, Keith M. (Tammy) Buteyn, Kent A. (Sue) Buteyn, Karl D. (Kelly) Buteyn, Karla J. (Mike) Engbers and Kristine M. (George) Doorn; eighteen grandchildren; twenty great-grandchildren; sisters, Carol Dekker, Beatrice Van Der Weele, and Doris (John) Jacobson; sister-in-law, Joan Otten; step-brother, Ron (Nancy) Westerbeke; and other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his son, Kurt D. Buteyn his step-mother, Edna Buteyn; and his brothers-in-law, Howard Van Der Weele and Robert Dekker.
Funeral services will be held at 12 Noon Wednesday, November 8, 2017 at Christ Community Church. Pastor Josh Van Engen will officiate. A time of visitation and support will be held at the church from 10:00 am until the time of service. Burial will take place at Greenlawn Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in his name.
Art will always be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend who will be missed by all.
