Barbara "Barb" Jean Thiel

Barbara “Barb” Jean Thiel, 75, of Sheboygan, passed away peacefully on January 26, 2023 at Sheboygan Progressive Health Services, with her beloved family by her side. She was born January 14, 1948, in Ashland, to Robert and Corinne Voight. When Barb was in 5th grade, her family relocated to Sheboygan. She attended Maple Dale Elementary, Urban Middle School and graduated from North High School in 1967.

 

On January 19, 1980, she married Michael D. Thiel. Together they made their home in Sheboygan.

She worked at Lakeland Manufacturing until it closed. She later retired from Nemschoff.

The time she spent in her kitchen was filled with love. She loved to cook and her family enjoyed every last morsel. Her pets were her everything. Until her illness, she enjoyed reading, shopping, traveling to Door County, and hosting friends and family at her pool.

 

Most of all, she loved her family fiercely. She instilled strong values in her children and grandchildren, and her legacy will continue on through them.  She will be dearly missed and forever in our hearts. 

 

She is survived by her husband of 43 years, Michael, children, Todd (Tina) Thone, and Kim (fiance-Armin Lukaszewski) Thone, her five siblings, Raymond (Becky) Voight, James (Barbara) Voight, twin sister, with whom she had a very special bond,  Bonnie (Robert) Fenn, Steve (Julie) Voight, and Jerry (Denise Groth) Voight, her grandchildren, Brandon (Ashley) Thone, James Thone, Darian (fiance Makayla Rehm) Moritz , Logan Moritz, Caden Thone and one great grandchild, Bentley Thone, her sister in-law Darla Thiel, and two brother in-laws, Steve (Sheila) Thiel and Scott (Debbie) Thiel. She is further survived by two very special aunts, Deloris Voight and Doris Voight, her father’s widow, Linda Voight and her children, Rebecca (Bryan) Nelson, Jennifer King, and Christina King, and many cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.


In addition to her parents and her in-laws, Harry and Esther Thiel, she was preceded in death by a daughter-in-law Kelly Thone.

 

A memorial service will be held on Friday, February 3, 2023 at 10:30 AM at Greenlawn Memorial Park,6706 Superior Ave. Kohler. Relatives and friends may visit with the family on Friday, February 3, 2023 from 10:00 AM until the time of service in the chapel at the cemetery.

 

Barb’s family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Sheboygan Progressive Health Services and Sharon S. Richardson Community Hospice for their care and support over the past few months.
