Bernhard Arens Jr., 86, of Sheboygan, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his family on August 10, 2024.
The son of the late Bernhard Sr. and Martha (Rothman) Arens, Bernie was born on August 4, 1938. He attended North High School here in Sheboygan before he enlisted in the U.S. Navy. He served on the USS Saratoga.
On October 11, 1959 he was united in marriage to Charlotte Rowe at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Sheboygan.
Bernie worked at Polarware as a press operator for many years before his retirement. He loved wood working, hunting, fishing; camping at Pine Lake – Hiles Campground for 28 years. Bernie worked with his dad for 15 years at Bernhard Sausage Company before working at Thielmann’s Sausage Company. He played the keyboard and was very talented, he could play by ear.
He is survived by his children David (Darlene) Arens of Plymouth, Michael Arens of Sheboygan and Peggy (Tim) Cook of Monroe; 8 grandchildren, Lance, Spenser, Chanté (John), Jade (Joshua), Jewel, Patrick, Holly and Cassidy (Cameron); 8 great-grandchildren and other relatives and friends.
Bernie was preceded in death by his loving wife Charlotte; his parents Bernhard Sr. and Martha Arens; brothers, Adolf (Delores) Arens, John (Helen) Arens; and sister Anita Arens.
All services will be private.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund is being established in Bernie's name.
