Berniece Marquardt

Mrs. Berniece A. Marquardt passed away Sunday, January 15, 2017 at Terrace Place in Sheboygan. She was 96 years old. Berniece was born September 2, 1920 in Waldo, the daughter of Herman and Minnie (nee Heiden) Grohskopf. She attended Grant Elementary School, and graduated from North High School in 1939. On December 28, 1940, she was united in marriage to Leslie Marquardt in Sheboygan. He preceded her in death February 23, 1985.

After getting married, the couple resided on Milz Court in Sheboygan until 1949 when they moved their family to a farm south of School Hill in Manitowoc County. They moved back to Sheboygan in 1965. Berniece worked at Hansen Glove Co. in Kiel, and later at Decorative Arts in Sheboygan. She loved flowers, gardening, playing cards, especially 500 rummy, and spending time with her family.

Berniece is survived by her children Michael of Sheboygan and M.J. (Robert) Florian of Oxnard, CA. She is further survived by 7 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, 1 great-great-grandchild, other relatives and friends. She is preceded in death by her husband Leslie and 11 brothers and sisters.

Memorial Services will be held at 12 noon on Thursday, January 19, 2017 at Ballhorn Chapels, 1201 N. 8th St. in Sheboygan. The family will receive visitors at the funeral home on Thursday from 10:30AM - 12 noon. Berniece will be laid to rest at Greenlawn Memorial Park beside Leslie.
