Elaine Kroeff

November 18, 1921 — March 11, 2017

Long time Sheboygan resident Elaine K. Kroeff passed away Saturday, March 11 at the Sheboygan Senior Center at the age of 95.
Elaine spent her childhood in many different Wisconsin cities and towns, moving with her father, Paul Fischer, of the Wisconsin Power & Light Company. Always an avid student, Elaine was a proud graduate of Berlin High School (class of 1939) and the National College of Education (class of 1943 - Louis University, Chicago, IL), where she received a degree in elementary education.
After college, Elaine moved to Sheboygan to live with her father, who was the District Manager for WP&L. There she began her teaching career at the former Washington Elementary School on the north side. During that time she met Eugene S. Kroeff and they were united in marriage on April 7, 1951 at St. Clement.
Elaine resided at 5020 Blackstock Road north of Sheboygan with her husband and their four children. Once her children were grown, Elaine returned to teaching where she happily reconnected with former students, now parents with children of their own. She lived on Blackstock Road for 60 years: with her husband until his death in 1992, moving to Landmark Square in 2011 where she lived for the past 5 years. Elaine was actively involved in her faith community at St Clement, which included the Altar Society and Catholic Daughters.
Elaine made and cultivated many dear friendships over her long life. She connected with people wherever she went: in her neighborhood, condo, and at church, where she worked and volunteered. She will be greatly missed by her family and by the many friends she made over her long life.
Elaine is survived by her sons: Eugene (Cathy) Kroeff and Tim (Judeen Persohn) Kroeff, by her
daughters: Kay (Richard Streng) Kroeff-Streng and Monica (James) Wind, by grandchildren:
Elaine (Dan Exner) Streng; Martha (Zoe Henrot) Streng; Maggie Kroeff; and Ted Wind.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Eugene S. Kroeff; father, Paul H. Fischer; mother, Minetta Raffin Fischer and infant twin sister, Dorothy Ann.
In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation in her memory to Seton Catholic School, Sheboygan, Wisconsin or an organization of your choosing.
