Georgianne Progar

November 23, 1926 — February 2, 2014

Georgianne (Burr) Progar, 87, of Sheboygan, went to be with her Lord on Sunday, February 2, 2014. Ann was born in Fish Creek on November 23, 1926 to the late Newell and Georgianna (Bonnville) Burr. Ann graduated from Gibraltar High School in Fish Creek in 1944 and from Milwaukee Cosmetology School in 1946. She lived and worked in Milwaukee and Florida before moving to Sheboygan in 1952. She married Arthur J. Progar in 1952 at St. Paul Catholic Church in Fish Creek. It was the first wedding in the church. Ann and Art were married for almost 47 years and spent most of those years living in the beautiful Black River area. Ann worked at her husband's drugstore for ten years and later worked at the Prange corporate office for many years. Arthur preceded her in death in 1999. Ann loved her life, friends and family. She lived life to the fullest. She had a wonderful and special friend in her life for six years, Sam Felten, who was her forever friend. She lost him much too soon to cancer in January of 2012, but was grateful for the magical time they had together. Survivors include her two sons, Thomas Progar, Gig Harbor, WA and Patrick (Felicia) Progar, Medford, NJ; two grandsons, Philip Progar and Ian Progar; two granddaughters, Melanie Progar and Alexis Progar; two great-grandchildren, Victoria and Lily; brother Gerry (Barbara) Burr, Eau Claire; step-grandchildren, Gary (Joy) Putz, Steve (Liz) Putz, all of New Jersey; two sisters-in-law, Joan Burr, Sturgeon Bay and Doris Progar, Milwaukee. She is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by three brothers, Dale, Gene and Don and one sister, Virginia. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated for Ann on Wednesday, February 5, 2014 at 11:30 a.m. at Holy Name of Jesus Catholic Church (807 Superior Ave., Sheboygan) with the Rev. Matthew Widder officiating. Friends may call on Wednesday, at the church, from 10:30 a.m. until the time of the Mass. Inurnment will follow at Greendale Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established for the Alzheimer's Association. The family would like to thank the staff of St. Nicholas Hospice for their care and concern.
