Harold Schumacher

Harold A. Schumacher, 83, of Howards Grove, went to his heavenly home on Tuesday, May 14, 2013 at Sharon S. Richardson Community Hospice. Harold was born on July 27, 1929 in the town of Sheboygan Falls, to the late Otto and Alma (Millert) Schumacher. Harold married the former Mardell Machut on July 30, 1960 at St. John Lutheran Church in Plymouth. In 1961, the couple moved to the Schumacher Homestead farm in rural Sheboygan Falls, which was established in 1852. Mardell preceded Harold in death on April 10, 2013. Harold was employed by Richardson Brothers Company for over forty years. His passion was working the family farm on his John Deere tractor. He loved raising pigs and working the fields. He cherished the time he spent with his wife, children and grandchildren. Harold enjoyed bowling, dartball, playing Skat at Johnsonville and Sheepshead at family gatherings. He was a lifetime member of St. Luke Lutheran Church, where he held many offices including president of the church council. Harold was also an avid Packers fan. Harold is survived by two sons; Gary of Howards Grove and Randy (Julie) of Hilbert, three daughters; Lavonne (Paul) Schroeder of Sheboygan, Jodi (Romeo Gomez) Ziegelbauer of Howards Grove and Stacy (Brian Reed) Schumacher of Two Rivers, ten grandchildren: Adam Schumacher, Bradley, Chris and Nick (Melissa) Schroeder, Hannah and Noah Schumacher, Tera, Cassie and Zach Ziegelbauer, Mariana Gomez, four great grandchildren, Sheldon, Marissa, Cameron and Dominic; three sisters, Dorothy Verhage of Sheboygan Falls, Lorraine (Del) Crawford of San Jose, CA. and Darleen Rautmann of Sheboygan Falls; one sister-in-law Marlene Machut of Waukesha, as well as many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Harold was preceded in death by his wife of 52 years, Mardell, a brother, Elton (Louise) Schumacher, an infant twin brother and three brothers-in-law, Ronald Rautmann, Richard Verhage and Donald Machut. A funeral service will be conducted for Harold on Monday, May 20, 2013 at 11:00 am at St. Luke Lutheran Church, N6193 State Hwy 32, Sheboygan Falls. Reverend Elizabeth Jaeger, officiating. Interment will be in the church cemetery. Friends may call at Zimmer's Westview Funeral & Cremation Care Center, (Hwy 42 and Cty road JJ, Howards Grove) on Sunday from 4 until 7 pm and at the CHURCH on Monday from 10:00 am until the time of the service. Memorial Funds have been established to St. Luke Church and the Sheboygan County Fair Association in the name of Harold A. Schumacher. The family would like to thank the staff of Sunny Ridge Health and Rehabilitation Center and the Sharon S. Richardson Community Hospice for the loving care Harold received.
