Hildegard Spindler

Hildegard Spindler, age 90, of Howards Grove, died Monday April 29, 2013 at the Sharon S. Richardson Community Hospice. She was born April 24, 1923 in the town of Herman (Howards Grove), the daughter of the late Carl and Ella (Barts) Grunewald. Hildegard attended school in Howards Grove and graduated in the eighth grade. Hildegard Grunewald was united in marriage to Robert Bassuener on September 28, 1940. He preceded her in death in 1946. On March 15, 1951 Harry Spindler married Hildegard Bassuener at the parsonage of Bethel UCC in Ada, WI. The couple farmed in Ada. In 1964, Hildegard and Harry sold the farm and purchased the Lake Breeze Motor Court on county LS in the town of Mosel. They operated the Motor Court from 1964 until 1970. They moved to West Allis and operated the Motor Court in the summers from 1964 until 1970. Hildegard held various manufacturing jobs in addition to operating the Motor Court. They moved back to Howards Grove in 1975, after which she became a full time homemaker. Harry preceded her in death on August 2, 2008. She enjoyed traveling, being outdoors, fishing, attending to her flower and vegetable gardens and feeding the birds. She also enjoyed playing cards, sewing, crocheting and putting puzzles together. She was a great cook and enjoyed making meals for her family. They were most important to her and she loved spending time with them. Her wit and sense of humor brought smiles to all who knew her. Surviving Hildegard are two sons; Roman (Bonnie) Bassuener of Ada and Robert Bassuener of Sheboygan, three daughters; Delores (Peter) VanWyk of Sheboygan Falls, Barbara (Peter) Godard of Ada, and Rosemary Spindler of Flagstaff, AZ., twelve grandchildren, thirteen great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild, one sister; Leona (Wallace) Heling of Howards Grove. In addition to her parents and husbands, Hildegard was also preceded in death by four brothers; Carl, Roman, Arvin and Hubert Grunewald, one sister; Verona (Elmer) Perronne, and one daughter-in-law, Roxanne Bassuener. A funeral service will be conducted for Hildegard on Saturday May 4, 2013 at 12:00 Noon at Ebenezer United Church of Christ, 3215 Saemann Avenue in Sheboygan. Interment will follow at the Bethel Cemetery in Ada. Friends may call at the CHURCH on Saturday from 10:00 A.M. until the time of the service. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established to Sharon S. Richardson Community Hospice in Hildegard's name. The family would like to thank the staffs of Cedar Bay Assisted Living, Azura Memory Care and Sharon Richardson Community Hospice for the loving care Hildegard received.
