James Parker Rose, age 76, was welcomed into the arms of Jesus on Monday, December 1, 2025. He was born in Green Bay on July 20, 1949 to the late Dr. Robert J. and Virginia (Parker) Rose. He was a 1972 graduate of Beloit College. On September 25, 1976, he was united in marriage to Linda Socia at University Lutheran Chapel in Milwaukee.
James had a long and distinguished career as a geological engineer with a number of firms, with a particular point of pride being involved in the construction of MMSD’s Deep Tunnel project. While he respected the past with his geology work and historical reenactments, he was also concerned with the future with his love of science fiction and volunteer work with the Democratic Party.
Family and religion were both important to James, and he lived a life in service to both. He was an avid model railroader and conservationist. He loved helping people and touched many lives, and will be remembered and missed by them all.
James is survived by his son Matthew Rose and daughter Mariette (Ryan) Richter. He is further survived by his siblings Robert J. Rose Jr., MD, Nancy Bultman, and Virginia (Ginnie) Harney, by his sister-in-law Nanci Saucier, as well as many extended relatives and friends.
In addition to his parents, James is preceded in death by his wife Linda.
The family would like to thank the Sheboygan Emergency Services for their kindness and compassion during a very difficult time.
A Memorial Service honoring James’ life will take place at St. Mark Lutheran Church, 1019 N. 7th St. in Sheboygan, on Friday, December 12, 2025 at 12:00 p.m., with Pastor Tyler Werner officiating. Relatives and friends may visit with the family from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service at the church. The memorial service will be available to view via livestreaming.
Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Mark Lutheran Church.
