Jane Lorraine Velasquez

Jane Lorraine Velasquez, age 93, went home to her Lord and Savior on Saturday, December 13, 2025. She was born to the late William and Amalia (Weisz) Sonnenfeld on November 28, 1932 in Sheboygan. She was a 1950 graduate of Central High School in Sheboygan. On June 9, 1954, she married the love of her life, LeRoy Velasquez. Together they raised four children: Dave, Steve, Kathie, and Scott.

Jane worked hard all of her life, beginning in her early years working for Security National Bank, and later in life working at American Orthodontics. She was devoted to her faith in Jesus Christ, and was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church for many years. She was involved in the church’s bible class, XYZ Club, member of the adult choir, and the Ladies Quilt Club. In her free time, she enjoyed spending time with friends playing cards, bowling, and visiting garage sales. She was an avid reader as well, and enjoyed crossword puzzles. Above all, Jane loved her family, and was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and sister. She will be deeply missed by all who had to the privilege of knowing her.

Jane is survived by her children Dave Velasquez, Kathie Adema, and Scott (Andrea) Velasquez. She is further survived by her grandchildren Amberly, Ashley, Benjamin, and Amy (William); and her great-grandchild Oliver.

In addition to her parents, Jane is preceded in death by her husband LeRoy, her son Steve, and her siblings Sophie, Gertie, and Ruben.

The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the staff at Edenbrook Nursing Home and Sharon S. Richardson Community Hospice. Their warmth and compassion will not be forgotten.

A funeral service will take place at 12:00 p.m. at Ballhorn Chapels, 1201 N. 8th St. in Sheboygan, on Monday, December 22, 2025, with Reverend Alan Kretschmar officiating. Relatives and friends may visit with the family from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service at the funeral home.

Burial will take place at Lutheran Cemetery in Sheboygan immediately following services.
