Jean Leuck

April 13, 1925 — June 23, 2017

Jean Louise Leuck, age 92, of Sheboygan, died Friday morning, June 23, 2017 after a short stay at Sunny Ridge Nursing Home.
She was born April 13, 1925 in Sheboygan to Christ and Amelia (Weinberger) Weber. She attended Trinity Lutheran Grade School and was a graduate of Sheboygan North High School, Class of 1943, with perfect attendance all twelve years.
While students at Sheboygan North High School, Jean met Robert Leuck during band practice. On June 28, 1947 Jean and Robert Leuck were united in marriage at the home of Jean's parents. He preceded her in death on November 20, 1981.
During WWII Jean was employed at the War Price and Rationing Board and volunteered as a nurse's aide at Sheboygan Memorial Hospital. She later worked at Wisconsin Public Service before beginning employment at Wigwam Mills, retiring after more than twenty-five years. Following retirement, she worked part-time at Times Printing.
She was a long-time volunteer as a nurse's aide at the Red Cross Blood Bank when it was held at the Sheboygan Armory. She proudly donated twelve gallons of blood over the years. Most recently she volunteered at Sunny Ridge Nursing Home, assisting people to the chapel to listen to Pastor Tom Fleischmann whom she admired.
Jean enjoyed taking annual vacations to California and travels in the U.S. to Nicolet National Forest and along Lake Michigan. She also enjoyed playing sheepshead at the Senior Center, cooking, baking, and gardening. She enjoyed many family picnics at Mauthe Lake and was a guardian for the Honor Flight for WWII Veterans.
She is survived by her son, Robert (Donna Caliendo) Leuck of Waukesha; her daughters, Carol (Steve Gerk) Leuck of Sheboygan and Joan (Dik) Waak of Newton; grandchildren, Nathan (Julie) Leuck of Germantown, Mandy (Carl Gust) Leuck and Tori (Dustin) White of Waukesha, and Kizo (Betsy) Hurtienne of Stevens Point; great-grandchildren, Abbi, Aiden, Elias, Iris, Noah, Mason, Ethan, and Ayla; her niece, Jane (Tom) Schmelter; her Godchild, Barbara (Robert) Burger; her dear friends, Art Koeser and his family, Joanne (Gary) Hinz; Bob and Gloria DeGroot; so many great neighbors; relatives and friends.
In addition to her husband, Robert, she was preceded in death by a grandson, Sam; her sister, Dorothy (Raymond) Perman; her sister-in-law, Carli (Chuck) Newcomer; and her dear friend, Greg Fleisner.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, June 27, 2017 at 3:00 p.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church, 9th & Wis. Ave., Sheboygan, WI. Rev. Timothy J. Mech, Senior Pastor of Trinity Lutheran Church, will officiate. A time of visitation and support will be held at the church from 1:00 p.m. until the time of service.
Since Jean had a lifelong love of animals, donations to the Sheboygan County Humane Society would be greatly appreciated.
Jean's family would like to express a heartfelt thank you to the staff at Sunny Ridge Nursing Home, Aurora Sheboygan Memorial Medical Center, and Marsho Medical Clinic for their excellent care.
