John Jantz

April 27, 1930 — August 2, 2021

John E. Jantz of Kohler, Wisconsin passed away peacefully on August 2nd at Memorial Hospital in Sheboygan, Wisconsin where he had been a patient for several days.

John was born on April 27, 1930 in Caroline, Wisconsin, the son of Rudolph and Rachael (Raddatz) Jantz.  He attended school in Caroline and graduated from Marion High School in 1948.  After graduation he continued to work with his father in "Jantz's General Store" in Caroline.  In 1951, he was drafted into the United States Army and subsequently served two years in the Korean Conflict being stationed in Mt. Fuji, Japan.  After completing his stint in the Army, he returned to Caroline and worked with his father until he met the woman that would become his wife and the love of his life, Margaret “Mary” Muth in Green Bay at a dance hall.  They were united in marriage on November 27, 1954 and have been together since.  John then left the General Store for a career with Standard Oil Company, which became Amoco and later BP Corporation.  He worked for the company for 36 years where he was the recipient of numerous sales and performance awards.  After his official retirement in 1989, he continued to work for the company as a parttime employee until 1995 when he and Mary relocated to Kohler to be closer to family.

During his retirement, he enjoyed long walks around the village with his dog, manicuring his yard, attending Packer games and fishing trips to Lake Lucerne where he had been fishing since the mid 70's.  John is survived by his wife of 67 years, Mary, their children Joseph (Kathleen) Jantz, Margaret (Richard) Divarco, Elizabeth (James) Mitchell, and Kristina (Nicholas) Casper.  Surviving grandchildren include Mark R. Jantz, Michael J. (Celeste) Jantz, Kathryn A. (Anton) Bogolin, Christopher R. (Samantha) Divarco, John N. Mitchell, Robert W. Mitchell, Alyssa R. (Austin) Resop.  He was also blessed with three great grandchildren, Elijah, Mary and Felix Jantz.

Per John's wishes, a private family visitation at Good Sheperd will take place on Saturday, August 7, 2021, beginning at 9:15 a.m. until the time of a service at 10:00 a.m. A private burial will be on the same day at approximately 1:00 p.m. at the Zion Lutheran Cemetery in Caroline, Wisconsin.  Memorial donations can be made on John's behalf to Good Sheperd Lutheran Church, 1614 South 23rd Street, Sheboygan, Wisconsin 53081 (www.goodsheperdsheboygan.com), 920.452.8759.
