John E. Goebel, of Milwaukee, passed away Wednesday morning, September 5, 2018 at Sharon S. Richardson Community Hospice in Sheboygan Falls. He was 71 years old.
John was born May 27, 1947 in Sheboygan, the son of Edward and Jeanette (Nee Pomerich) Goebel. After graduating from Sheboygan North High School, he went on to earn a bachelor's degree from UW Madison. He was a retired educator.
John was a member of Village Church in Milwaukee and volunteered at their food pantry. He was active in the Milwaukee-N-Southeastern Model Railroad Club. His interests included continuing education, art and music. He taught himself to play the guitar. He was generous with his time and money, donating both to local and national organizations.
He is survived by his siblings: June Eddy (Jerome Vaessen) of Sheboygan, Susan Dickman (Richard Fonger) of Minneapolis, MN, Mary Noguchi of Kyoto, Japan, Phillip (Jane) Goebel of Denver, CO and Katherine (Geoffrey) Giles of El Paso, TX. He is survived by nieces and nephews, his closest nephew Chris Eddy of Sheboygan, other relatives and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents.
A private family graveside service will be held at Wildwood Cemetery, Sheboygan at a future date.
