Lillian Dekker

February 28, 1924 — July 15, 2017

Lillian Annette Dekker, age 93, of Sheboygan, who put all her hope and trust in the Lord, passed away peacefully into the loving arms of Jesus on Saturday, July 15, 2017. Lillian was born in Sheboygan Falls on February 28, 1924 to the late John and Henrietta (Ippel) Buteyn. She graduated from North High School. Before her marriage, Lillian worked for 5 years at Montgomery Ward and later worked for 17 years at J.C. Penney. On June 2, 1948, she married Peter J. Dekker. Lillian was a lifelong member of Christ Community Church, formerly First Christian Reformed Church. Lillian sang in the Radio Choir, Deo Gloria choir, girls trio, and girls quartet. Peter and Lillian went on many bus trips, and also by car, to visit their children and grandchildren. Lillian enjoyed oil painting, ceramics, porcelain painting and flower gardening. She always enjoyed spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Lillian is survived by 5 children: Phyllis (Phil) Martin of Rhode Island, LouAnn (Kent) LaPan of Mass., Bern (Lana) Dekker of Sheboygan, Brenda Dekker of Oostburg, Perry (Terri) Dekker of Port Washington; Grandchildren: Mark (Amber) Visser, David (Danielle) Visser, Jennifer and Julie Bangma, Kristen (Cory) Leikip, Brenton (Michelle) Dekker, Matthew and Sam Dekker; Great-Grandchildren: Logan and Cameron Visser, Greta, Emma, and Clara Leikip, Matthew and Calvin Dekker.
Lillian was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Peter; her son, Michael; grandson, Peter Visser, and 6 siblings.
Family and friends are invited to visit at Christ Community Church, 428 Geele Ave, Sheboygan, on Friday, July 21, 2017 from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. The funeral service will take place at 5 p.m. Lillian will be laid to rest at Wildwood Cemetery.
A memorial fund has been established for Christ Community Church and Sheboygan Christian School.
The family would like to thank the following special neighbors: Dean and Sandi Mancheski and Jane Sippel for their care and friendship. Also, a special thanks to the loving staff of Pine Haven Christian Home, especially Roxanne, Jackie, and Cindy.
Lillian will always be remembered for her unconditional love for her family and the love that she had for her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. She always put others first and had a smile for all that will be greatly missed.
