Lynn Berken

August 29, 1958 — November 8, 2013

Lynn Philip "Porkey" Berken, 55, passed peacefully into heaven at his home in Elkhart Lake, on Friday, November 8, 2013. Lynn was born August 29, 1958, in Sheboygan, a beloved son of the late Clarence and Rose (Moriearty) Berken. Above all else, Lynn had a genuinely kind and good heart. He deeply loved, honored and respected his parents; not only directly, but also in the way he lived his life. He was virtuous and patient, with tremendous fortitude. Many times over, his quality of humor brought our laughter to tears. In one way or another, Lynn always showed how much he cared. His life was a great gift. Porkey loved collecting hats and was seldom seen without one. He also enjoyed the outdoors, especially hunting and fishing. Lynn especially enjoyed spending time with Bobby and Traci in Hayward. Lynn is survived by four siblings: Barbara (Ronald) Meyer; George (Mary Ann) Berken; Kristine Berken; and Gregory Berken. His four nieces and nephews include: Michele (Jason) Mickelson and children Olivia and Gavin; Michael (Dallas) Meyer; Natalie (Christopher) Cahlamer and daughter Hannah; Nathan Berken and other relatives, friends and neighbors. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister-in-law, Karen Berken and one great-nephew, Connor Mickelson. A brief remembrance service will be held for Porkey on Tuesday, November 12, 2013 at 6:30 p.m. at the Zimmer's Westview Funeral and Cremation Care Center (Hwy 42 & JJ, Howards Grove.) Friends may call on Tuesday, at the funeral home from 4:30 p.m. until the time of service. Entombment will take place at the Garden of Peace Mausoleum. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund will be established in his name.
