Mary Ann Windsor

Mary Ann Windsor died peacefully after a brief illness on May 16, 2025. She was born in St Louis, Missouri on September 20, 1930 to Anna K (Seybold) and Herbert C Schaefer. She graduated from University City High School and then received a BS in Business and MS in Education from Washington University in St Louis, where she was a member of Kappa Alpha Theta sorority and Mortar Board. Following graduation, she was an elementary school teacher from 1952 to 1957.

On March 22, 1952, she and Richard B Windsor MD were married in St Louis after which they enjoyed nearly 48 years together. In1957 Mary Ann and Dick moved to Sheboygan, where she resided until 2022 when she moved to Cedar Bay in Elkhart Lake.

In Sheboygan Mary Ann was a member and past president of Town and Country Garden Club. She also belonged to PEO, the Women’s Medical Auxiliary, Sheboygan County Landmarks, the Sheboygan County Historical Society, and the First Congregational Church. She had a successful 10-year career in real estate until her retirement in 1990; she took great satisfaction in matching families to the house that was right for them. Throughout her years in Sheboygan and Elkhart Lake she established many cherished long-lasting friendships, which gave her much joy. She remained active until her last few days, visiting with family and friends, quilting, knitting, and playing cards, especially bridge.

Mary Ann is survived by her three children, Richard B. (Nancy) Windsor, Charles B. (Linda) Windsor and Anna Marie B (Douglas C Stahl) Windsor. She is survived by her 7 grandchildren, Andrew (Natalia Taran) Windsor, Mary (Caglar) Koylu, Brian Windsor, Robert Windsor, Harold Windsor, Charles (Haley Holan) Stahl, and Maria Stahl, as well as her three great grandchildren Arya Koylu, Aylin Koylu and Andrey Windsor. Her brother Charles (Arlene) Schaefer of Unity, Maine also survives her. Mary Ann was preceded in death by her husband and by her dearest friends Marguerite Sherwin and Esther Nack.

Memorial service will be held at the First Congregational Church 310 Bluff Avenue in Sheboygan at 4 PM on Tuesday August 12, 2025, followed by a reception in the church lounge. A private burial has taken place at Forest Home Cemetery, Forest Junction, WI. In lieu of flowers please consider a donation in Mary Ann’s name to the First Congregational Church, the Sheboygan County Historical Society, or the Aurora Medical Center Sheboygan County.
