Megan Lee Peterson, age 17, was welcomed into the arms of angels on Wednesday, February 11, 2026. She was born in Sheboygan on February 15, 2008 to Carl Peterson and Jodi Schlei.
Megan had a huge heart, and was always looking for ways to help her community. Megan loved to bake, and worked at the Sheboygan Senior Center serving meals for the elderly. She loved classic rock, especially Aerosmith. She loved to read, and was a smart, sweet, kind, gentle soul. Above all, Megan loved her family. They loved going on road trips together, seeing new places, and exploring new things with the people she loved the most. Her mom always said to her “God danced the day you were born! Although her family’s hearts are broken, there is healing in knowing Megan’s grandparents are with her until they can all be joyfully reunited in heaven one day. She will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her. The world could use more people like Megan. Surely heaven gained an angel when it received Megan, a beautiful blue-eyed child forever.
True to her heart, Megan has donated her beautiful eyes and her organs that will give the gift of life to a family truly in need.
Megan is survived by her parents Carl (sidekick Anne) Peterson and Jodi Schlei, her brother Ben Schlei; her uncle Chris (Mary) Peterson, and her aunts Kim (Dan) Ziegler, Renee (Chad) Privatt, Amy (Jay) Montemayor, and Renee (Bob) Lee. She is further survived by her fur babies Allie, Cali, Maisy and Marley, as well as many other relatives and friends.
She is preceded in death by her grandparents Don and Sandy Schlei, Don Peterson, and Tom and Kathy Hayner.
A memorial service honoring Megan’s life will take place at First United Lutheran Church, 2401 Kohler Memorial Drive in Sheboygan on Friday, February 20, 2026 at 10:00 a.m., with Pastor Travis Kern officiating. Relatives and friends may visit with the family from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service at the church.
The funeral service will be available to view via livestreaming by visiting Megan’s obituary on the funeral home website, just prior to the service.
