Melanie Hofkens

Melanie J. Hofkens, age 64, passed away on Monday, March 17, 2014 at the Sharon S. Richardson Community Hospice. Melanie was born August 5, 1949 in Shawano, WI to her late parents Arthur and Winifred (Milhaupt) Hofkens. She attended St. Pius X grade school, and Xavier High School, Appleton, Outagamie County Teachers College and UW-Oshkosh. Melanie taught special education at Lightfoot School in Sheboygan Falls and elementary grades in Howards Grove. Melanie was an avid doll artist and collector, and she especially loved collecting Mickey Mouse memorabilia. Her greatest passion was to teach and make life long connections with her students. Melanie will be greatly missed by all the lives she touched. Melanie is survived by, one sister; Lee (Danny) Moulding and one brother; Tony (Sandy) Hofkens. She is also survived by her nieces and nephews; Jason (Caitlin) Moulding, Lisa Moulding, Kristy (Dennis) Feerick, and Matthew (Laura) Hofkens, great-nieces; Lauren and Shea Moulding. Also loved by her "little sister" Theresa Dortman, other relatives and friends. Visitation on Saturday, March 22, at Holy Name of Jesus Parish, 807 Superior Ave., Sheboygan from 9:00 AM - 11:00 AM. Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 AM with Fr. Daniel Lasecki presiding. In lieu of flowers, memorials are appreciated to the Sharon S. Richardson Community Hospice. The family would like to extend a special thanks to the Hospice staff for their exceptional care.
