Michael Kuester

Michael E. Kuester, Sr., 65, of Howards Grove, passed away Sunday, December 1, 2013 at home. Michael was born January 27, 1948 to Bernadine (Edler) Kuester and the late Delbert Kuester. He graduated from North High School in 1966. On October 14, 1967, he married the former Patricia A. Hansen at St. Wendel Church, Cleveland. Michael served his country in the United States Army from 1967 until 1969, during the Vietnam War. He was employed by the Kohler Company for 36 years, working as a quality assurance technician in the engine division. In addition to his wife, Patricia, and mother, Bernadine, he is survived by two daughters, Lori (Arno) Knoener, Elkhart Lake and Michelle (Jeff) Roehl, St. Cloud; one son, Michael Jr. (Angela) Kuester; seven grandchildren, Derek Knoener, New Holstein, Holly Knoener, Elkhart Lake, Hailey and Heather Hastreiter, Manitowoc, Kevin Erbrecht, Howards Grove, London and Lexis Kuester, Kiel; one brother, Kevin (Bonnie) Kuester, Sheboygan, two sisters, Nadine (Eugene) Hansen, Sheboygan and Denise (Terry) Barthels, Centennial, CO; a special aunt, LaVerne Gerl; special uncle, Arthur Edler; four brothers-in-law, Allen (Elaine) Hansen; Walter Hansen, Jr., Kenneth Hansen and Richard (Debbie) Hansen; two sisters-in-law, Jane (Richard) Vandoske and Mary Jo (Bill) Adamec. He is further survived by many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Walter Hansen and Mary (Mayer) Hansen. A Memorial Gathering for Michael will be held on Thursday, December 5, 2013 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the Zimmer's Westview Funeral and Cremation Care Center (Hwy 42 & JJ, Howards Grove). A memorial fund has been established in his name. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff of the Vince Lombardi Cancer Clinic, to Dr. Santhosh Kumar and his staff and to the staff of the Sharon S. Richardson Community Hospice for their care and concern.
