Peter Kuehl

March 8, 1959 — November 17, 2013

Peter Joseph Kuehl , 54, of Sheboygan Falls, passed away peacefully at the Sharon S. Richardson Community Hospice from ALS (Lou Gehrig's disease) on November 17, 2013. Peter was born on March 8, 1959 to Ronald and Hildegarde (Drachenberg) Kuehl in Hustisford, WI where he attended grammar and high school. He graduated from UW-Oshkosh in 1982 where he obtained his Bachelor Degree in Business Finance. Peter began his 30 year career with Security First National Bank (currently US Bank) in Sheboygan in 1983 as a credit analyst, and subsequently became a loan officer in their mortgage lending department. He was later promoted to Branch Manager of both the Southwest and Downtown locations until becoming a Private Banker. Peter was involved in many organizations in Sheboygan including the Jaycees, United Way, Chamber of Commerce, and Partners for Community Development just to name a few. He served on the Board and the Endowment Committee and was President of Big Brothers/Big Sisters from 1994-95. He was an active member of Calvary Lutheran Church in Sheboygan, where he served as treasurer for several years and was involved with the church's building project. During his career, Peter received numerous business awards. Most recently (2012), he received national recognition as one of US Bank's ‘Top Private Bankers'. He was committed to building trust and confidence when working with clients and his philosophy was, "My business is about building life-long, meaningful relationships." He carried this belief to his relationships with family and friends. Peter's motto, one he often shared with family and friends, was work hard, play harder. He was involved in sports his whole life, playing baseball, softball, and basketball. He was also an avid bowler and continued to bowl until December 2012 when his ALS symptoms began to inhibit his physical abilities. However, Peter's greatest love was fishing. He spent countless hours on the water at the family cottage on Rolling Stone Lake (near Crandon). He would always say, "I could fish every day" and demonstrated this by sharing his catch with family and friends; giving bags of fillets away, a testimony to his love of fishing and his generosity. On September 29, 1984 Peter was united in marriage to Peggy (Margaret) Salmon of Hartford, WI. Peter is survived by his loving family; wife Peggy, son Jason, and twin daughters Maghan and Nicole, all of Milwaukee; brother Gregg, of Hustisford; sister Gretchen (John) Moran, of Union Grove; and his parents Ronald and Hildegarde Kuehl, of Hustisford; as well as many beloved nieces, nephews, and cousins. Peter's family and friends were very important to him. He always supported his children and encouraged them in their sporting and academic ventures. Many happy memories were created attending college sporting events, taking family vacations and fishing trips, or just talking over a glass of beer. Peter and his family would like to thank the staff at the Sharon S. Richardson Community Hospice, friends, neighbors, and co-workers for their love and support during this difficult time. Visitation will be held on Thursday November 21, 2013 at Zimmer Westview Funeral and Cremation Care Center (Hwy 42 & JJ, Howards Grove) from 5:00 PM until time of service at 7:30 PM. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to Sharon S. Richardson Community Hospice in Peter's name.
