Ralph Schneider

Ralph J. Schneider, 82, of the Town of Sheboygan, passed away Monday, January 27, 2014 at St. Vincent Hospital in Green Bay. Ralph was born July 13, 1931 in Manitowoc County to the late Jerome and Leona (Schad) Schneider. He attended St. Isadore Catholic Grade School and Kiel High School. On August 22, 1953, he married the former Maxine Meyer. She preceded him in death on July 8, 1990. Ralph served his country in the United States Army from October of 1955 until October of 1957 and in the Army Reserves until October of 1961 before receiving a honorable discharge. He worked at Kohler Company for forty years before retiring in 1994 as a foreman in the foundry. He served as Town of Sheboygan Supervisor since 2005. Ralph was very active in the International Lions Association. He joined the Lions in 1994. He served in several leadership positions and helped found the Town of Sheboygan Lions Club. He served as the president of the Sheboygan Area Eye Bank, also transporting corneas to the Madison Lions Eye Bank, and was the 27-B1 Election and Nominating Chairman. His 15 trips with the Lions Mission to Mexico to distribute eye glasses were very rewarding. Ralph received many awards from local, state and national Lions. He was presently a member of the Sheboygan Noon Lions Club. Ralph was also a member of St. Dominic Parish in Sheboygan. Ralph is survived by two children, Lori (Roger) Schneider, Stevens Point and Steven (Anita) Schneider, Sheboygan; one brother, Eugene (Connie) Schneider, Whitelaw; one sister, Carol (Tom) Greenwood, Naples, FL and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Anton and Mayme Meyer, one sister, JoAnn (Marlin) Voss, one brother, Paul Schneider, three brothers-in-law, Paul Fisher, Kenneth Meyer and Glenn Meyer. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held for Ralph on Friday, January 31, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Dominic Catholic Church (2133 N. 22nd Street, Sheboygan) with the Rev. Philip Reifenberg officiating. Friends may call on Friday, at the church, from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the Mass. Committal will follow at the Garden of Peace Mausoleum. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the Lions Pride Endowment Fund of Wisconsin, Inc. or a charity of your choice.
