Richard Froh, age 86, of Sheboygan, Wisconsin passed away peacefully after a brief illness on July 6, 2025.
He was the son of William and Hertha (Hetzel) Froh, Sr. who predeceased him and was the youngest of a large family of 17 siblings.
Richard graduated from Central High School in Sheboygan in the class of 1957. While attending high school he worked full-time at Block’s Woodworking and, upon graduation, at Larson Plywood, Red Dot Foods, Van’s Foods and then as a Sales Representative for Hills Bros. Coffee/Nestle Beverage retiring after 30 years of employment with them.
Along with his wife, Marilyn, they started the first swimming pool store in Sheboygan in 1975, Froh’s Swimming Pools, which they had until 1989. Following retirement, he owned and operated Funeral Specialists, the work which he found to be incredibly fulfilling.
Richard’s love of music was demonstrated playing the drums, since the age of 13, and as a vocalist. His band, “The Peptones” performed for 48 years throughout the state. He loved entertaining large crowds bringing joy to many people. He especially loved polka, country western, and Gospel music.
He enjoyed woodworking, lawn work, and fixing things and had many inventive ideas on how to use duct tape! One of his lifelong passions was designing and playing with his Lionel train “O” gauge railroad layouts.
Richard cherished the time spent with his grandchildren and making items for their enjoyment.
He loved being with people and enjoyed telling, “just one more story!”
Richard is survived by his wife of 67 years, Marilyn Mae (Arndt). They were married in Sheboygan on August 3, 1957. He is also survived by his three children and five grandchildren, son Randall (Tamara) Froh and grandchildren Courtney and Chelsey Froh, daughter Cheryl (William) Bromley, son Craig Froh (Cheryl Olson) and grandchildren Noah, Caroline, and Margaret Froh. He is also survived by his brother and sister, William Froh and Gloria Carpenter and numerous nieces and nephews who were so supportive throughout his journey.
A funeral service will be held on Friday, July 25th at the Ballhorn Funeral Chapel, 1201 N. 8th Street, Sheboygan, WI 53081. Visitation will be from 1:00 - 3:00 p.m. with a service to follow from 3:00 - 4:00 p.m. Richard's service will be livestreamed and available to view on his obituary page on the funeral home website, www.ballhornchapels.com
