Robert "Bob" James Achsel

December 30, 1939 — August 9, 2025

Sheboygan

Robert “Bob” James Achsel, age 85, passed away peacefully with his family by his side on August 9, 2025. He was born on December 30, 1939 in Sheboygan to the late Wallace and Theresa (Bassuener) Achsel. Robert served honorably in the United States Marine Corp. On October 3, 1957, Robert married the love of his life, Joan Lorier, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Sheboygan. Together they raised three children: Jeff, Doug, and Debra.

Bob worked in manufacturing most of his life. In his free time, he participated actively in all-things sports. He went to as many games as he could, was a baseball pitcher until his 50’s, and enjoyed playing softball as well as coaching his children in both softball and baseball. Bob and Joan were a bowling couple for many years, as well. Above all, he loved being a grandpa to his 4 granddaughters, and later on, a doting great grandpa. Bob will be deeply missed by all those who had the privilege of knowing him. The world could use more people like Bob.

The family would like to thank the wonderful staff at Sheboygan Progressive Health Services for their care and compassion with Bob and his family.

Bob is survived by his wife of 66 years, Joan, and their children Jeff (Sarah) Achsel, Doug (Jenifer) Achsel, and Debra Bonnett. He is further survived by his grandchildren Jennifer (Jake) Freuhauf, Kaitlin (Brenton) Riggall, Kristin Achsel, and Ashly Bonnett; his great-grandchildren Dominic Bonnett, Elliot Riggall, Hailey Bonnett, and a little one due in November; his brother Wallace “Dick” Achsel, Jr. and sister Sandra Mueller, as well as other relatives and friends.

In addition to his parents, Bob is preceded in death by many other aunts, uncles and other relatives.

Per family wishes, no services will be held.
