Ronald Sandven

April 21, 1942 — June 29, 2013

Ronald William Sandven died Saturday, June 29, 2013. Ron was happy to tell you he was born in Havre, Montana, on April 21, 1942, to Rhea and Reuben Sandven.(both deceased) January 1, 1963, Ron and Jill Bredlow were married in Dubuque, Iowa. They raised three daughters in Sheboygan, WI, that survive Ron--Deborah Sandven, Jennifer Sandven, and Melissa Kuehl. Melissa and Todd Kuehl gave Ron three grandchildren that survive him--Taylor, Thomas, and Samantha. All live in Sheboygan. July 1, 1988, Ron married Cindy Joa in Kohler, WI. They were about to celebrate 25 years that went by way too fast. Ron is survived by Cindy and her children, Aaron Radder(Sheboygan), and Brooke Laufer(Evanston, IL), as well as Brooke's husband, Matt Laufer, and their children, Josie, and Ben. Ron's sister, Kari Sandven, and her children, Rachel Gifford, and Thomas Gifford, also survive him and live in Minneapolis, MN. Ron graduated from Dubuque High School, and went on to graduate from Harvard University in Cambridge, MA. From there he went to the University of Wisconsin, in Madison, and received his masters in education. He did his teaching internship at Sheboygan North, and remained there for 34 years as a dedicated history teacher. Ron also spent many hours as a committed coach, coaching football, wrestling, and girls and boys tennis. In 1999 he retired and enjoyed all the 'playtime' he could. He enjoyed so many activities--skiing, tennis, biking, and golf. He spent many hours reading, enjoyed chess, loved listening to and recording music, and was always working a difficult sudoku puzzle. In 1989 he and Cindy learned to windsurf and Ron became a passionate sailor. They spent a lot of time in Florida so Ron was able to enjoy it year round. Ron had many friends whose lives he touched deeply. His and Cindy's 'kids' Joe and Maggie(2 labs) were so important in his life. He loved his children and grandchildren and family and he has left a large hole in their hearts. Ron's love for Cindy was deep and visible and her heart is broken. Friday, July 5th, from 1:00 til 4:00, friends and family are invited to the Joa/Sandven residence, N6733 Willow Road, Sheboygan Falls, to share memories and hugs and tears. A memorial fund has been established in Ron's name.
