Ruth I. Ross (Schoemer) of Sheboygan, age 70, was called home to her Lord on Friday, October 12, 2018.
Born in Sheboygan on March 20, 1948 to the late Robert and Armella (Schlager) Schoemer, Ruth attended Holy Name of Jesus Catholic School and graduated from Sheboygan North High School in 1966. On September 19, 1970 she married the love of her life, Joseph, at Holy Name Catholic Church.
Ruth took pride in her family and was blessed to be a stay at home mother to her children. Later she worked for the Sheboygan Retirement Home in the environmental services department. Ruth also spent much time volunteering with her community. She was instrumental in starting the food pantry at St. Dominic Parish. In recent years she became very active with the Holy Name Parish St. Anne's society, Caring Blooms, and loved joining the ladies for quilting. Her strong faith led her to many visits with nursing home residents as well as leading the rosary each Tuesday morning at her church. Ruth enjoyed golfing, fishing, and her many walks through her favorite parks. She was dedicated to her family and would often help in her grandchildren's classrooms. Many memories were made at the family cabin up north and the trips to Arizona and Texas. Her kind heart left an imprint on all that knew her. She will be dearly missed.
Ruth is survived by her husband Joseph; their children Julie Ross of Phoenix AZ, Jennie (Shane) Carroll-Hoppe of Wausau, WI, and Joseph (Melissa) Ross of Oswego, IL; six granddaughters, Grace, Emily, Nicole, Katie, Izabelle, and Aubree; a brother Paul (Anne) Schoemer; a sister Louise Henning and two sisters-in-law Mary Schoemer and Bonnie Schomer. Other family and friends further survive.
She was preceded in death by a son-in-law Aaron Carroll; two brothers Thomas Schoemer and John (Jack) Schoemer and a brother-in-law Wesley Henning.
A Mass of Christian Burial for Ruth will be held at 1:00 PM on Wednesday, October 17, 2018 at Holy Name of Jesus Catholic Church, 807 Superior Ave., Sheboygan, with Father Matthew Widder officiating. The family will greet visitors, at the church, on Wednesday from 11:00 AM until the time of service. Burial will take place at Calvary Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in Ruth's name. The family would like to personally thank the Sheboygan First Responders and Police Officers for their immediate help. They would also like to thank the staff at Aurora Sheboygan Memorial Medical Center for the care and comfort shown to the family. They will be forever grateful.
