Walter Meinnert, 82, of Howards Grove, passed away Monday, January 14, 2013, at his residence. Walter was born April 23, 1930 in the town of Sheboygan Falls to the late William and Eliza (Hinz) Meinnert. He served in the U.S. Army. On April 14, 1957 he married LaVerne Goeke at the parsonage of Salem Ebenezer Reformed Church in Newton. She preceded him in death October 8, 1991. Walter was a member of Saron United Church of Christ. He was employed by the Kohler Company for over thirty years. Survivors include his son James Meinnert of Howards Grove, his daughter Susan Walter of Sheboygan, his son Glenn Meinnert of Phoenix, AZ, and his grandchildren; Rebecca and Andrew Walter and Bianca and Anthony Bailles. He is also survived by his brothers; Milton (Lou) Meinnert and Harold Meinnert, his sisters; Dorothy (Harold) Grunewald and Alice (Roger) Thomas, and his in-laws; Evelyn Meinnert, Jeanette Meinnert, Diana Meinnert, Ray Goeke, and Myrt Goeke. In addition to his wife LaVerne, he was preceded in death by his daughter Janet Bailles, his sisters Helen Klemme and Anita Derlein, and his brothers Willard, Norbert and Marvin. Funeral services for Walter will take place Saturday, January 19, 2013, at1:00 pm at Saron United Church of Christ (1838 Cty Tk J). The Reverend Kathryn Kuhn, Pastor, will officiate. Friends may call on Saturday, at the church from 11:00 am until the time of service. Burial will follow services at Saron U.C.C. Cemetery. A memorial fund has been established in his name.
