Walter Meyer

Walter "Wally" W. Meyer, 79, of Sheboygan, passes away Thursday, February 7, 2013, at Sheboygan Progressive Care Center. Walter was born August 31, 1933 in Sheboygan to the late Walter P. and Cora (Zimmermann) Meyer. He graduated from Central High School in 1952. He served in the National Guard and the U.S. Air Force. On December 29, 1956 he married Catherine Nytes. He was employed by the Sheboygan Falls Police Department, the Sheboygan Hospital, Gilson Company, the Kohler Company, and was an independent truck driver for various local companies. He enjoyed listening to jazz and big band music, watching all of the local sports teams, and patronizing his favorite restaurant Jumes. In the mid 1970's he played for Sheboygan's semi-pro football team, the Sheboygan Redwings. Survivors include his daughters; Debra (Bruce Matzdorf) Meyer, Patty (Randy) Halbach, Susan Meyer, and Peggy Meyer, his sons; Brian (Christine Blend) Meyer, Mark (Michelle) Meyer, and Michael (Linda) Meyer, his grandchildren; Nicholas, Travis, Timothy, Jason, Matthew, Adam, Ashly, Ryan, Jessica, Makaela, and Kameron. He is also survived by his great-grandchildren; Zander, Wyatt, Quentin and Jacob, and his daughter-in-law Jean Meyer. He was preceded in death by a son Jeff Meyer and a brother Robert Meyer. A memorial visitation for Walter will take place Tuesday, February 12, 2013, from 3:00 pm until 7:00 pm at Zimmer's Westview Funeral & Cremation Care Center. Burial will take place at Wildwood Cemetery. A memorial fund has been established in his name. The family would like to thank Sunny Ridge Nursing Home and Sheboygan Progressive Care Center for the loving care they provided for Walter.
