William J. “Bill” Hendrikse, age 67, of Sheboygan, peacefully went to be with his Lord on January 12, 2026 from his battle with cancer.
Bill was born on June 9, 1958, in Sheboygan, where he grew up surrounded by family, faith, and a community that shaped the man he would become. He attended Sheboygan Christian School during his grade school years and graduated from Sheboygan North High School. He later earned his Finance degree from the University of Wisconsin–Whitewater in 1981. Bill had a remarkable gift for numbers. He could multiply or divide figures in his head instantly, a talent that amazed and entertained those around him.
On October 16, 1999, Bill married the love of his life, Dena Kalk. Their marriage was a reflection of commitment, partnership, and God’s faithfulness. They celebrated 26 years together and were blessed with two children, Nathan and Kayla, who brought Bill immeasurable joy and pride.
Bill was a longtime member of Christ Community Church (formerly First Christian Reformed Church). His faith was not something he simply spoke about—it was something he lived. He served, encouraged, and cared for others with a quiet steadiness that reflected his trust in the Lord. Bill worked at TCF Bank for 26 years before retiring in 2020. He also spent many years as a member of Laack’s Club, where he built long lasting friendships and fellowship that continued to bless his life even after the club closed.
Bill enjoyed life fully and gratefully. He loved cheering on the Brewers, Packers, Bucks and Badgers. He has been attending Badger football games for the past 34 years, which has been a highlight of his life that was only made more special while both of his children studied at UW–Madison. In his family, Badger pride lives on. Bill also cherished golfing, whether in the Town & Country Wednesday morning league, on the Kohler courses with his Blackwolf Run buddies, or alongside his wife which was one of their favorite shared pastimes. Their most recent trip took them to the Smoky Mountains, where they enjoyed memorable rounds at courses in both Tennessee and Kentucky.
Bill was caring, outgoing, and genuinely interested in people. He had a gift for connection—no matter where he went, he always seemed to know someone, and if he didn’t, he would soon strike up a conversation. His friendly nature earned him the affectionate nickname “Mayor Bill,” a testament to his ability to make everyone feel seen, welcomed, and valued.
Bill is survived by his wife, Dena; his children, Nathan and Kayla Hendrikse; and his brother, Todd (Sandy) Hendrikse.
He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Joyce Hendrikse, whom he loved deeply.
A funeral service for Bill will be held on Friday, January 16, 2026 at 1:00 P.M. at Christ Community Church, 428 Geele Ave, Sheboygan, WI 53083. Private burial will take place at Wildwood Cemetery in Sheboygan. The family will greet relatives and friends from 11:00 A.M. until the time of service at the church.
Bill’s legacy of faith, kindness, and genuine connection will continue to live on in the many lives he touched. His family takes comfort in knowing he is now at peace in the presence of his Savior.
