Joyce Rommelfaenger

November 10, 1929 — January 22, 2021

Joyce Ann Rommelfaenger, 91, of Sheboygan, passed away peacefully on Friday, January 22, 2021 at Pine Haven Christian Home in Sheboygan Falls.  The daughter of the late Richard Merrill and Elizabeth (Splinter) Merrill Ende, she was born November 10, 1929 in Sheboygan.  Joyce attended Grant Elementary School, Jefferson Middle School and graduated from Sheboygan North High School with the Class of 1947.

On August 30, 1952 she was united in marriage to Roman “Romey” Rommelfaenger at St. Dominic Catholic Church in Sheboygan.  He preceded her in death on August 14, 2006, 16 days before their 54th wedding anniversary.  They were blessed with four beautiful children: Steven William, Paul Steven, Kurt Joseph, and Heidi Elizabeth.

Following High School Joyce worked for 7 years doing secretarial work.  She later went to work at the former Evans Store located on S. 12th St. and Wilson Ave. for 17 years.

Having a strong faith, Joyce was a devoted Catholic. She served as a Den Mother with the Cub Scouts for 7 years. She was an avid reader, and enjoyed needlework, crocheting, and crafts. Joyce made afghans for all her family and friends.  She also donated over 90 afghans to cancer patients and abused children.  She also crocheted over 200 baby hats for the newborns at the local hospitals and several Milwaukee Area hospitals.  Many of her needlepoints contained prayerful messages made for loved ones, friends, and her own enjoyment. Joyce always had a project in the making.  Joyce loved to tell her family about the “good old days” and shared her happy memories of the many happy times she spent with Romey on bus tours to all 48 continental states and also to Canada.  They also enjoyed trips to Hawaii and Mexico. Joyce’s greatest joy was her family and dearest love Romey.  Everyday she made sure to create precious memories of their time together.

She is survived by her two sons: Paul (Marijo) Rommelfaenger of Union Grove, Kurt (Lorri) Rommelfaenger of Greenbush, and daughter Heidi (Tim) Regan of Beaver Dam, seven grandchildren: Mark (Lesley Poberezny) Rommelfaenger, Eric (Jessi) Rommelfaenger, Katie (Casey) Weis, Cody (Jenny) Rommelfaenger, Jenna Rommelfaenger, Devon (Jessica) Regan, and Erika Regan, four great-grandchildren: Brett Roman Rommelfaenger, Lilyanna Elizabeth Rommelfaenger, Kayden Mark Rommelfaenger, and Finley James Paul Rommelfaenger, and her  half-sister Jennifer(Merrill) Muse and her family in Brea, CA.  She was preceded in death by her parents, Richard Merrill, Elizabeth Ende and stepfather William Ende, husband Romey, infant son Steven (1 year old), three half-brothers, and a half-sister.

A private family mass will be held for Joyce at St. Peter Claver Catholic Church.

In lieu of flowers memorials will be divided amongst Joyce’s favorite charities.

The family would like to express their gratitude to the staff of Pine Haven and Sharon S. Richardson Hospice for all the care, comfort and compassion they provided.

God Bless!

Be Happy!

Love & Hugs,

Mom (Gramma)
